Football Glossary

 

• FA:  Acronym for the Football Association, the governing body of football in England

• FIFA - Acronym for Fédération Internationale de Football Association (International Federation of Association Football), governing body of football around the world

• Ghost goal: Situations where a ball fairly crossed the goal line but did not result in a goal, or a goal was awarded despite the ball not crossing the line

• GLT: Acronym for Goal Line Technology, a means of determining if the ball has crossed the line or not.

• IFAB: Acronym for the International Football Association Board, the body that determines the Laws of the Game of association football 

• Premier League: Name of the top division of English football since 1992.

• UEFA:  Acronym for Union of European Football Associations, the governing body of the sport in Europe;
